In the Rule of Benedict, Chapter 20 and 52 speak of \u201creverence in prayer,\u201d \u201cpurity of heart\u201d and \u201ctears of compunction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other Benedictine themes of prayer are<\/p>\n<p><b>-listening<\/b>, desire, praying with Scripture through reading, meditation, and contemplation;<br \/>\n\u2013<b>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.centeringprayer.com\/lectio_divina.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LECTIO DIVINA<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\/ (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/Faiths\/Catholic\/2000\/08\/How-To-Practice-Lectio-Divina.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how to practice<\/a>)<br \/>\n-mindfulness, short and continual prayers;<br \/>\n-praying with the\u00a0<b>PSALMS<\/b>;<br \/>\n<b>-discernment in prayer<\/b>\u00a0and prayer as: \u201cuniversal, converting, reflective and communal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>to nurture and witness spiritual values in centers of spirituality,<br \/>\nto participate in the missionary service of the Church,<br \/>\nand to provide guidance for living out the message of the Gospels<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"what-we-do-highlight-text\"><strong>That in all things God may be Glorified.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr class=\"what-we-do-divider\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"what-we-do-heading\"><b>\u201cRun while you have the light of life, that the darkness of death overtake you not\u201d (Jn 12:35)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Our common life finds expression in praying and working together,<br \/>\nin sharing our goods, both material and spiritual,<br \/>\nand in mutual service, support and encouragement.<\/p>\n<p>We participate in the mission of the Church<br \/>\nby our work of evangelization.<br \/>\nIn accordance with the tradition of our Congregation,<br \/>\nwe commit ourselves to proclaiming the Gospel among people<br \/>\nwho do not know Christ and where Christ is not<br \/>\nsufficiently known.<br \/>\nWe serve where the church is in need.<\/p>\n<p>We are challenged to awaken the sense for God<br \/>\nin our contemporary society<br \/>\nand to make others aware of the integral salvation<br \/>\nof the world offered by God in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Our Benedictine prayer life is characterized<br \/>\nby the Liturgy of the Hours in common and lectio divina.<br \/>\nIt reaches its highest point in the celebration of the Eucharist.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The love of Christ impels us to nurture and witness spiritual values in centers of spirituality, to participate in the missionary service of the Church, and to provide guidance for living out the message of the Gospels That in all things God may be Glorified.
